Well, this is just an awful way for Billie Eilish to end what has been a wonderful year.
The pop prodigy owned the charts in 2019 with her unique sound on tracks like Bury A Friend, You Should See Me In A Crown, and the smash hit Bad Guy. But as her popularity has risen she’s also been experiencing some of the darker parts of fame for the first time.
For instance, her family recently had to hire a bodyguard after a misguided fan described as a “creepy older man” found her address online and drove over a hundred miles and showed up at her house.

Now Billie, who just turned 18 on December 18, is dealing with one of the saddest aspects of being loved by so many. It opens you up to even more heartbreak.
In the past two days, two of her biggest fans, girls very close to her own age in fact, passed away — and Billie was hit with the news all at once.
On Thursday, an Australian teen named Skylar Davies died unexpectedly at the age of 19.
The fan, who met Billie back in April, passed away suddenly the day after Christmas, to the shock of her parents.
Her father, Rob Davies, wrote on a memorial GoFundMe page he started:
“There are no words to express our grief. We lost our beautiful Skylar who passed suddenly yesterday with no warning. Skylar collapsed, her heart stopped beating and she never regained consciousness. Skylar was our world and we are deeply heart broken.
Skylar was a genuine and kind soul, who touched many with her beautiful nature and creative talent. We really can’t believe she is gone. Our hearts break more each day as the reality that Skylar isn’t coming back sinks in. It’s hard to believe that beautiful heart just stopped, when she still had so much life to live.”
When Billie heard, she posted a series of pics on her own Instagram Story, saying:
“Rest easy beautiful girl… Sending every ounce of love I have to Skylar’s family and friends. My heart is shattered.”
Immediately after, Billie found out another fan she had met passed away on Christmas Day.
Kira Stanley was a San Diego surfer who was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma two years ago and lost her battle with the rare brain cancer just a month after turning 18.
Her parents described her on their GoFundMe page:
“Since her diagnosis she has transformed from athlete surfer to artist and poet. Her physical limitations force her to adapt and she has. She reads more, writes poems and draws almost daily. Her poems are deep and perplexing, her art is quirky and interesting.”
Sounds like Billie’s type of girl alright. The singer wrote over a photo of the two of them embracing:
“F**k. I don’t understand why is this all happening. I hate this. I don’t know how I’m only finding out now you’re not here anymore. I love you so much Kira. Please fly high. Rest in peace.”
Our hearts go out to the families of Kira and Skylar, and also to Billie.
The loss of beloved fans can be so devastating.
