Kevin Hart Calls Backlash Over His Son’s Cowboys & Indians Birthday Party ‘Dumb Sh*t’

Kevin Hart could NOT care less if you were offended by his son’s birthday bash.

The Night School star is laughing off the backlash he and Eniko Parrish got for throwing their one-year-old son Kenzo a cowboys and Indians themed birthday party that included teepees and blankets with traditional Native American prints.

As we reported, dozens of Instagram users galloped to Eniko’s comments over the weekend to let the couple know that they found the theme insensitive; some even used the dreaded term “cultural appropriation.”

But when he addressed the controversy on his SiriusXM show Straight From the Hart on Wednesday, Hart used a much different term: “dumb sh*t.” He recalled:

“[Eniko] posts this picture, and the next day there’s a lot of flak. You know, I don’t go on this sh*t; I don’t read none of that, so she tells me [about it]. She’s like, ‘Yo, come look at this dumb sh*t on TMZ. People are complaining about the cowboys and Indians party, saying it’s insensitive.”

The 39-year-old made it clear he did not feel the same way.

Hart first tried to defend himself by pointing out that the event took place “the same day the Cowboys played the Redskins on TV” — which really just pointed out that his lack of f*cks on the subject is the symptom of a larger problem.

But the way Hart sees it, the backlash “shows just how stupid our world is becoming with opinions.” He added:

“People are at a point of an all-time high. To throw racial judgment into the development of a 1-year-old’s birthday party where the theme is cowboys and Indians? It’s based around the outfits that are given to the young kids!”

Right, but certain cultures are tired of being seen as *outfits* when they feel like the voice of their people is, as one allegedly indigenous commenter wrote, “diminished.”

One of the actor’s Plastic Cup Boyz co-hosts tried to put things in perspective, asking the actor what he would think if “somebody throw a slave owner and a slave party?'” — to which Hart replied:

“If you don’t think there’s neighborhoods where they play that game in certain white neighborhoods, then you’re a f**king idiot. You don’t think they had dumbass games like that? As a kid, do we play cops and robbers? As a kid, did you play cowboys and Indians? … As a kid, when you played these games, it was based off of the premise from a hypothetical place that was put into perception for movies … What I’m saying is this isn’t something that just started. This isn’t a racial slur that people are doing or being malicious with. This is a game that’s been played for years.”

Umm…. dressing up like an “Indian” might not be a slur, but it’s definitely not respecting a culture that feels largely disrespected.

It’s very true that society is easily outraged today. But calling people “stupid” for expressing their opinions seems like something Donald Trump would say… and who wants to be that?

What do U think, Perezcious readers? Are we allowed to decide whether or not someone is worthy of feeling offended by something? Share your thoughts in the comments (below).
