Three months after revealing that her son Greyson was struggling with his speech, Jenni “JWoww” Farley confirmed that the 2-year-old has been “recently diagnosed” with autism.
The Jersey Shore star shared the news during an interview with Hollywood Life, noting that the tot is still “non-verbal” but has made “leaps and bounds when it comes to speech” thanks to his co-therapies. She said:
“He has co-therapies [every] week but we’re going to step it up a notch soon and get him ABA treatments, speech therapy… He’s understanding words better, which was his issue.”
The diagnosis news comes months after the 32-year-old revealed in an August episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation that Greyson still, for the most part, could not speak after turning two.

In her recent interview, however, the mother-of-two — who shares Greyson and 4-year-old daughter Meilani with estranged husband Roger Mathews — clarified that her son was vocal, but had trouble discerning the meanings between words.
She explained:
“Not that he couldn’t speak, but he would never know what his shoe is or if you said, ‘Greyson,’ he actually didn’t even know his name at one point until he was a little over two. So now that he’s understanding simple words, he’s come so far.”
Thankfully, the tot has made “positive, positive” progress since being diagnosed, which is a huge relief for his parents. JWoww recalled:
“It was like I was speaking another language to him. That was the frustrating part because it didn’t fill in. He didn’t understand what you were saying.”
It was even more frustrating for the MTV star to see Greyson unable to connect with his peers:
“It was really heartbreaking and frustrating as a mom when you see other two-year-olds that are speaking and living their best life. Greyson is living his best life. He just doesn’t know what you are saying!”
