Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke are the proud parents of a baby boy! Radcliffe shared the sex of the couple's baby in a July 3 interview with Entertainment Tonight. A representative for Radcliffe previously confirmed the news of the baby's arrival to POPSUGAR on April 25. The news came after the longtime couple were spotted out and about in New York City on Monday, April 24, together, pushing a baby carriage in photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
While talking with ET, the "Harry Potter" star discussed how much he's loving being a dad. "It's great. It's crazy and intense, but he's wonderful and Erin is amazing - it's a real privilege also to have this time with him," Radcliffe said. "I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, and so I'm able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely."
The actor also revealed that he's a bit sad about returning to work later this year. Radcliffe continued, "I really like spending time with him, and I think I'm gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year. So, I will definitely be I think a bit more selective – not more selective, I've always been selective, but I think I'll probably work a little bit less for the next few years."
Radcliffe's representatives first confirmed the couple was expecting a child back in March. That's when the pair were spotted out in New York, and Darke's baby bump was apparent.
The new parents first met in 2012 on the set of their film "Kill Your Darlings," which was released in 2013. They made their red carpet debut two years later at the 2014 Tony Awards. More recently, Darke appeared on Radcliffe's TBS series "Miracle Workers" in season three, which aired in 2021. The couple tend to keep their relationship private, though Darke was by Radcliffe's side at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022 to promote his movie "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story." Radcliffe told GQ in October 2022 that Darke was actually the one who got him into Weird Al's music to begin with. "The early part of our relationship was me being educated in Al by her and her whole family," he said at the time.
Radcliffe has also opened up about the future he wants for his kids - and it doesn't include fame. "I want my kids, if and when they exist. . . I would love them to be around film sets," he told Newsweek in October 2022. "A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like 'God, you know, I'd love to be in the art department. I'd love to be something in the crew.' Some part of this, but not from that." He said that obviously child acting has turned out OK for him but added, "But still, I wouldn't want fame for my kid."
