Exclusive: "Grown-ish" Revisits Jazz's Battle With Mental Health in Sneak Peek

Freeform's "Grown-ish" is circling back on another important conversation around mental health this season. The series is finishing out its fourth installment as it gears up for graduation, but in an exclusive look at episode 13, "OK Not to Be OK," the show sparks a new dialogue around Jazz (Chlöe) and her latest "case of the gloomies."

In the sneak peek, a concerned Zoey (Yara Shahidi), Ana (Francia Raisa), and Nomi (Emily Arlook) check in on Jazz, who's been missing out on time with the crew as well as her classes. "You been sitting in the exact same place for a few days now, and honestly, I haven't seen you use the bathroom," Nomi points out in the clip. Zoey inquires if Jazz's checked-out state of mind has something to do with her fallout with Des, which Jazz quickly denies. "I just haven't been wanting to engage with anyone in a minute."

Per the episode's logline, viewers will see Jazz go back to therapy as she tries to "grapple with cultural and personal perceptions surrounding mental health." This isn't the first time "Grown-ish" has touched on the nuances around mental health. In season two, Jordyn Woods's character, Dee, opens the topic up for discussion when she shares with her fellow Cal U students that she's felt "hella depersonalized before."

The latest episode of "Grown-ish" aims to address the misconceptions around mental health and therapy in Black communities and stress the importance of self-care. Watch the sneak peek above, and tune into the new episode on Thursday, Feb. 17.
