What We Know About Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani's 12-Year Relationship
The rise and fall of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is taking center stage in the upcoming Hulu series "The Dropout," starring Amanda Seyfried and Naveen Andrews. For those unfamiliar with the story, Holmes founded the blood-test startup in 2003 before dropping out of Stanford University, and the company was valued at $9 billion over a decade later. By 2015, Forbes named Holmes as the world's youngest self-made female billionaire. Theranos promised to rapidly conduct blood tests using small amounts of blood, but amid growing concerns over the validity of the test results, The Wall Street Journal exposed the shortcomings with Theranos's technology.
The 2015 report marked the downfall of a blood-tech company that was once touted as the next big thing. But perhaps what is just as engrossing is Holmes's secret 12-year relationship with Pakistani-born entrepreneur Sunny Balwani (née Ramesh Balwani), who joined Theranos in 2009 as vice president before becoming the company's chief operating officer. Deposition tapes reported by ABC News in 2019 confirmed Holmes and Balwani's relationship, though Theranos employees and investors weren't aware of anything romantic going on between the two.
Ahead of "The Dropout"'s March 3 premiere, take a look at Balwani and Holmes's relationship timeline.

Beyoncé Fully Approves of Tyler Perry Spoofing Her Iconic Coachella Performance
If you've seen Tyler Perry's "A Madea: Homecoming," then you already know that the award-winning filmmaker hilariously spoofs Beyoncé's 2018 Coachella performance. In the final moments of the film, which is currently streaming on Netflix, Perry fully transforms into the 28-time Grammy-winning superstar, donning a replica of the yellow, embroidered Beta Delta Kappa sweatshirt, short shorts, and fringed boots worn by Beyoncé during her iconic performance.
In a recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight," Perry shared that all the divas he spoofed, including Adele and Mary J. Blige, approve of the parodies. "Beyoncé and I talked, yes. I have heard from Adele," he says in the clip. "All of them love it, man, they just think it's hilarious. They thought it was hilarious that I spoofed all over them. [Beyoncé] sent me this text that is just saying, 'D E A D.'" Watch the official trailer for "A Madea Homecoming" below!

Elliot Page Speaks Out Against Gov. Abbott's "Inhumane" Attack on Trans Youth
Elliot Page is denouncing the latest "dangerous" attack on transgender youth to come out of Texas. On Feb. 21, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton proclaimed that gender-affirming healthcare for trans minors, such as hormone therapy and puberty-suppressing drugs, is considered "child abuse." The following day, Governor Greg Abbott took the declaration one step further by ordering state agencies to investigate all instances of these treatments, adding that any medical professionals or teachers who fail to report minors getting such care will face criminal penalties.
"I stand with trans youth and their families."
"I am horrified by the inhumane and downright dangerous declarations by the Texas Governor and Attorney General," Page said in a statement to Variety on Feb. 24. "Trans youth deserve gender-affirming care and to be able to live their true, authentic selves without fear and oppression. I stand with trans youth and their families."
Page came out as transgender in December 2020 by sharing a heartfelt statement on his social media accounts. "Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life," they wrote. "I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I've been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society." Three months later, they became the first transgender man to cover Time magazine, and just last month, he signed on to produce a documentary highlighting trans lives.
Other celebrities have joined Page in using their platforms to speak out against Abbott and Paxton's claims. Gabrielle Union, whose stepdaughter Zaya Wade came out as trans in February 2020, tweeted, "This is where we are. We shot past dangerous and horrific a long time ago. The rubber has hit the road so who is standing shoulder to shoulder in this fight? Who truly gives a sh*t and whose on that performative bs? Let's see." Meanwhile, Kerry Washington reminded Texans about the importance of voting while criticizing the anti-trans directives. "Horrific. My heart goes out to the entire Trans community of Texas and their families," she tweeted. "Texas, this is happening in your state. Now is the time to use your voice and your VOTE. #TransLivesMatter."

A Second Jean-Michel Basquiat Project Is in the Works
Another project about the life of Jean-Michel Basquiat is in the works! After it was announced that Kelvin Harrison Jr. is portraying the late American artist in a new movie, Variety reported on Feb. 24 that Stephan James is starring as Basquiat in an upcoming limited series. The show still doesn't have a title, but it'll be set in 1980s New York City and showcase Basquiat's journey from an obscure graffiti artist to a legendary neo-expressionist painter. The series will also explore Basquiat's friendship with Andy Warhol.
"To embody such a revolutionary, whose influence in the modern era of pop culture is simply immeasurable."
"I am thrilled to partner with Boat Rocker to bring to life the story of Jean-Michel Basquiat," James told Variety in a statement. "Jean-Michel is an artist I have long revered, and someone who has greatly influenced my work over the years. To embody such a revolutionary, whose influence in the modern era of pop culture is simply immeasurable, will simply be one of the greatest honors of my career."
Boat Rocker Studios, Shamier Anderson, and James's Bay Mills Studios are coproducing the project, though they are still looking for a writer. "We're grateful to be working with Shamier, Stephan, and the entire Bay Mills Studios team to tell the story of a visionary artist whose profound cultural influence only continues to grow with time," Steve Lescroart, president of scripted for Boat Rocker Studios, told Variety. "We know that audiences around the world will be captivated." A release date has not been announced.
James is best known for his roles on "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "Race," "If Beale Street Could Talk," "21 Bridges," #FreeRayshawn," and "Homecoming." He is also set to star in Spectrum Originals and AMC's "Beacon 23" series, which is being coproduced by Boat Rocker Studios as well.

Tom Holland's "Euphoria" Cameo Likely Went Over Your Head
Following the latest episode of "Euphoria" and all the fallout from Lexi's incredible play, fans have been quick to question whether a certain someone has already made his highly anticipated appearance on the show. Screenshots of what looked like Tom Holland in the audience of the play were shared on Twitter after the episode aired, and viewers have a lot of thoughts. Holland has previously said he'd love to guest star on "Euphoria," and while pictures of him visiting the set have been doing the rounds, the actor has yet to confirm that his appearance has definitely been made.
Speaking to BuzzFeed ahead of the "Uncharted" film premiere, Holland shared some thoughts on the show and which character he'd like to play if he did end up joining the cast. "I would be in 'Euphoria.' I think I would be a really good Maddy," the Spider-Man actor admitted. "I'm a big 'Euphoria' fan. I love the show and I love season 2. I visited a lot while they were shooting it and I really, really enjoyed it. I would love to guest star or just be an extra in it. Or maybe I am and you just don't know."
While we can't imagine Holland saying "b*tch" nearly as many times as Alexa Demie's character Maddy does, we would be very interested to see what he did with the role regardless. So creators of "Euphoria," if you're listening, we're just saying that we're open to it . . .

We’ve Been Saying Lindsay Lohan’s Name Wrong All Along
Turns out, we've been pronouncing Lindsay Lohan's name wrong this entire time! In her TikTok debut on Feb. 7, the 35-year-old star introduced herself on the platform. "Hey everyone, it's Lindsay Lohan and guess what? Now I'm on TikTok," she says in the five-second clip, but it's the way she emphasizes Low-en instead of the "o" that has fans shaken to their core. "I thought it was LoHAAAN," one user commented on Lohan's introductory video. Another user apologized, writing, "im sorry i've said your name wrong my entire life." Check out the video below!
Just a few days ago, Lohan recreated an iconic moment from 1998's "The Parent Trap," where she played twins Hallie and Annie Parker, who discover each other's existence at summer camp after being separated at birth. "Yes, you want to know the difference between us? I have class and you don't," she mouths along as her characters Hallie and Annie, respectively, in the clip, which has already garnered over 12 millions since it was posted on Saturday.
In November 2021, Lohan announced to her 10 million followers on Instagram that she and boyfriend Bader Shammas got engaged. "My love. My life. My family. My future. @bader.shammas #love 💍," she captioned a photo of herself cuddled up to Shammas while showing off her engagement ring. Earlier this month, Lohan opened up about her wedding plans, telling Extra that she's taking a "low-key" approach. "Even on my birthday I want to make sure everyone else is good and then I can be okay. So I'll be more like that," she said. "I'm looking at destinations. I've already started talking to a friend of mine about the dress," Lohan continued. "But I want to do things right and I want to pace everything. But it's an exciting time. I'm very girly, so...."

Kanye West's "Jeen-Yuhs" Doc Recalls "The College Dropout" Era
Netflix is giving us the old Kanye West with its new documentary "Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy." The first chapter of the three-part docuseries premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January then hit Netflix on Feb. 16, giving viewers insight into the rapper's early days through video footage filmed over the course of 20 years. The second chapter arrived on Feb. 23, and walks us through the entire recording of West's debut album, "The College Dropout," as well as his journey of becoming a well-respected rapper in the music industry.
The documentary is directed by two of West's frequent collaborators, Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah, and features tons of star-studded cameos, including Beyoncé, Kobe Bryant, Pharrell Williams, Mase, and, of course, JAY-Z. However, the best appearance comes from West's late mother and No. 1 cheerleader, Donda West.
Though West was involved in the making of the project, the 44-year-old rapper previously demanded that he get the final edit and approval of the doc before its Netflix release. "I'm going to say this kindly for the last time. I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix," he wrote on Instagram. "Open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image. Thank you in advance 😊."
In a recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight," Simmons and Ozah revealed why they didn't grant West's request. "Our company is called Creative Control, so that tells you a lot right then and there," Ozah said. "Input is always welcome. We'll use that input and take the best from it as it aligns with the film and objective goal of the film we're trying to make."
Simmons added: "I said to myself, 'Trust God.' God led you up to this point. You got to continue to trust God and that was it. And I know God's gonna work it out because this film is very important for everybody who has a dream, for everybody after us."
Ahead, check out the biggest takeaways from parts one and two of "Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy."

"The Wendy Williams Show" to End After 14 Seasons
After 14 seasons on the air, "The Wendy Williams Show" is coming to an end. Williams will not return for the remainder of the season, which is still in production. Instead, the talk show will continue to air live shows with rotating guest hosts - including Sherri Shepherd, who is replacing Williams's time slot with her own talk show this fall titled "Sherri."
"OMG! I am so excited to have my dream come true and debut my very own talk show SHERRI in the fall," Shepherd said in a statement. "I can't wait until I return to NY to host the show and merge everything I love . . . pop culture, talk, entertainment and comedy. I am thankful to Debmar-Mercury and FOX for partnering with me on this show and look forward to this new journey." Many individuals from Williams's production staff, including her executive producer, will begin working for "Sherri" as both talk shows hail from Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury.
After reports began speculating that Williams's health condition was the reason for her show ending, the host set the record straight with a statement. "It's been a challenging time for Wendy as she deals with her health issues," her spokesman Howard Bragman stated. "She is incredibly grateful to Debmar-Mercury, to Sherri and everybody else who has supported the show through this time. She, more than anyone, understands the reality of syndicated television - you can't go to the marketplace and sell a show that's The Maybe Wendy Show. She understands why this decision was made from a business point of view, and she has been assured by Debmar-Mercury that should her health get to a point where she can host again and should her desire be that she hosts again that she would be back on TV at that time."
Speculation around Williams's health began shortly after she went on hiatus from her show in July 2021. Though she's currently not in a position to return to TV in a hosting capacity, Debmar-Mercury Copresidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein have expressed that the door is open for Williams if and when she'd like to make a comeback in the future.
"We all have a great love and affinity for Wendy, who grew into a true icon during her 12 incredible seasons as the solo host of a live, daily talk show dishing on 'Hot Topics' and interviewing celebrities," they said in a statement. "Since Wendy is still not available to host the show as she continues on her road to recovery, we believe it is best for our fans, stations and advertising partners to start making this transition now. We hope to be able to work with Wendy again in the future, and continue to wish her a speedy and full recovery."

The Weeknd Has a New Love Interest - and It's Not Angelina Jolie
Image Source: Getty / Christopher Polk/NBC
The Weeknd appears to have a new love interest - and nope, it's not Angelina Jolie. While celebrating his 32nd birthday in Las Vegas over the weekend, the singer was spotted making out with DJ Simi Khadra in a video obtained by TMZ.
Neither The Weeknd nor Khadra has publicly addressed the status of their relationship, but the two have been the subject of dating rumors as of late. Just a few weeks ago, they were photographed leaving West Hollywood's Sunset Tower Hotel together, and The Weeknd has not been shy about liking Khadra's pictures on Instagram.
The Weeknd previously dated Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez. Prior to Khadra, he was linked to Jolie, but it looks like they're just friends. Meanwhile, Khadra has a twin sister named Haze and their brother, Fai, is one of the Kardashian-Jenners' best friends. Khadra was also once friends with Hadid, but it looks like they're no longer in touch after the model unfollowed her on Instagram.

This Is a Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow Appreciation Post
Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow are quickly shaping up to be our favorite Hollywood duo. The actors may butt heads and fight nonstop while portraying polar-opposite sisters Cassie and Lexi Howard on "Euphoria," but once the cameras stop rolling, they're inseparable. Since joining the cast of the HBO teen drama, Sweeney and Apatow, both 24, have stuck by each other's side through the years, attending various award shows together and taking on the red carpet in style. Plus, they're constantly snapping fun behind-the-scenes photos and filming TikTok dances on set, and they even wore matching Halloween costumes last year.
In a 2019 interview with Elite Daily, Sweeney opened up about her close friendship with not only Apatow but also her costar's entire family. "She's like the sister I never had," Sweeney said of Apatow. "[Maude's sister] Iris is awesome, her dad is hilarious, I love them all. It feels like a real home." The star had previously told Nylon that "knowing who your true friends are" was the most challenging part of her rising fame, and it sounds like she definitely found a pal for life in Apatow.
To celebrate Apatow and Sweeney's real-life bond, we've created a digital photo album compiling their sweetest friendship moments to date. Admire 'em all ahead, preferably while blasting the "Euphoria" season two soundtrack.
