J Lo and ARod Impart Words of Wisdom on the Class of 2020: "Become the Leaders of Tomorrow"
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are sending the class of 2020 off with some words of wisdom. On Tuesday, the couple teamed up with Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard A. Carranza to honor New York City graduates in a special virtual graduation ceremony. "We know you've worked very hard to get here and that your family, friends, and teachers must be so proud of the young people you've become," Jennifer began.
Alex went on to explain the importance of working together as a team, and shared the story of the time he won a World Series championship with the New York Yankees. "The point is that when you looked at our team, it was a melting pot. We loved each other, we accepted each other, and we bonded with each other. We shared a common goal and we achieved it, and that's what made us great," he said. "It is our hope that one day, all of you and America, can come together like the 2009 New York Yankees . . . when we work together, we can accomplish amazing things."
"With every great challenge comes a great opportunity, and like so many things in life, this starts with accepting responsibility."
Jennifer then reflected on her high school years and the uncertainty she felt about her future during that time. "We both remember being in your position with an uncertain future ahead of us, but what we know now is we weren't really in your shoes. We didn't have to celebrate our graduation at home or watch our teachers and graduation speakers on a screen," she explained. "As the events of recent weeks have shown, your generation is facing a series of unique challenges. It feels like we lost our way these past few years, but we can find our way back. With every great challenge comes a great opportunity, and like so many things in life, this starts with accepting responsibility."
Jennifer ended the speech by urging graduates to get involved in their communities and emphasizing the importance of voting. "Do whatever you can, big or small, to ensure those who represent you, do in fact represent you. And please don't let your education stop after graduation," Jennifer said. "You may have earned your degree today, but you never stop being a student. Make an effort to learn more and more every single day. And finally, become the leaders of tomorrow." Cardi B Bites Back At Claims She’s Homophobic & Transphobic: ‘Learn What Those Words Mean’
Cardi B is sick of the critics!
A week after slamming claims she had an extra salty Finsta account, the Grammy winner fired back at Twitter users who accused her of being homophobic and transphobic.

It began on Monday when a social media critic pointed out the Bodak Yellow songstress was referenced in an episode of Love, Victor, a Hulu show that centers around a high schooler struggling with his sexuality. The Twitic wrote:
“Thats crazy, considering the woman is homophobic and transphobic.”
But Bardi disagreed. The momma of one issued a five-point clap back in response, writing:
“How the fuvk am i homophobic or transphobic?have you been to a carribean island where you really see homophobia! Have you dealt with a parent that can’t accept you for your sexuality?i said some ignorant things b4 that apologized for & educated myself on it don’t mean I’m homo… Ya keep using that same 1 video that I apologize for over & over again to call me homophobic & transphobic 1 but never post about the ones where I support the LGBT community which are multiples and the multiple tweets I posted in support.”
The 27-year-old performer, who previously said she identifies as bisexual, continued:
“And I don’t support the LGBT community because I have ‘gay fans’ I support because of the confused feelings I had growing up on is it normal to like girls? I support because I know how hard it was for my gay cousin to come out to his very strict Dominican family…I support because I know the pain my cousin from my mom side which is a Tran ‘ have a f**ked up relationship with her dad for years ! I support because I seen the transitions & the feelings my glam team having during their time with they body transition & my sister…Coming out to my mom & dad religious people as gay.”
The rapper concluded:
“So before ya make it cool to call me homophobic & transphobic… learn what those words mean and research my encouragement to the LGBT community b4 ya motherf**kers even knew who was CardiN.”
Hmmm… okay. Cardi has clearly been exposed to some LGBT-related struggles in her life — but that only makes her past homophobia-related controversy all the more frustrating.
Back in 2018, the artist came to her then-fiancé Offset’s defense after the Migos performer got heat for rapping “I cannot vibe with queers,” during a guest spot on YFN Lucci’s track Boss Life. After Offset gaslit listeners by suggesting he meant the dictionary definition of the word — “lingo that means strange or odd” or “lame people who film you, post it and stalk you,” to be exact (sure, Jan) — Cardi came to his defense, telling fans in a Periscope livestream:
“If that’s a word that you guys said is a bad word for gays, I’ve never even heard that word in the first place… Why don’t y’all educate people? A lot of people are not aware about what’s wrong or right in the LGBT community.”
We’ll give her this: Cardi may not be gay-panic homophobic… but she isn’t exactly LGBTQ ally of the decade either.

We already read up on one family squabble from Royals At War: The Untold Story of Harry and Meghan’s Shocking Split with the House of Windsor, in which investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett spilled the tea on Meghan Markle‘s pregnancy announcement at Princess Eugenie‘s wedding — namely that Prince Harry didn’t know his wife was going to do it and got totally “embarrassed.”
But they’ve uncovered more dirt from the Palace floors during the Sussexes’ tumultuous time in the UK. Rewind to several months before Eugenie’s nuptials, before Meghan and Harry’s own wedding even.

We’ve heard before the rift between the houses of Sussex and Kensington was due to Prince William telling Harry to slow things down with Meghan. In the UK’s Channel 5 documentary William & Harry: Princes At War, Sky News reporter Carole Malone stated:
“The biggest cause of their so-called rift was Wills tried to warn Harry when he met Meghan not to rush into it. He’d only known her for less than a year when they got engaged. He sat him down and just told him to take it a bit slow, not to run at it.”
Well, Royals At War — out on Tuesday — backs up that claim. Per quotes from DailyMail.com, William took Harry aside and asked:
“Is she the right one?”
But what if it wasn’t just William?
According to the authors’ inside sources, Kate Middleton also urged caution after Harry fell so hard for the Suits star so quickly in 2016. They write:
“She gently reminded him that he was dating someone with a completely different life, past, and career and it would take time, care and attention for them to integrate.”
Uhh.. “integrate”?? Oof. Talk about a bad choice of words.
Even as prudent as concerns as these may be, that’s not exactly how love works is it, picking the woman who’s most similar to you.

It does sound like they’re being awfully protective of Harry — and critical of Meghan.
Just as we’ve heard, the book claims it did NOT go well — with the Duke thinking his family wasn’t giving this amazing woman he’d met a chance and reacting too harshly in response. As one source told them:
“It’s my opinion that Harry feels he couldn’t protect his mother, so he’s going all out to protect his wife. He is so sensitive he often sees criticism or negativity where there isn’t any.”
The way Howard and Tillett see it, this was the most crucial moment in the whole Royal split:
“The rifts that eventually opened up in the Royal family after Meghan arrived could have been avoided if Harry was able to empathise and take his brother’s concerns in the spirit they were intended.”
Aw, how sad. To think how things could have been if William and Kate had been less protective — or if Harry had been less defensive.
These three used to be so close…
At some point though, we’re sure Harry was tired of playing third wheel!

Ryan Seacrest & Longtime Girlfriend Shayna Taylor Split Again — And He’s Already Moved On!
Well, it’s over for Ryan Seacrest and Shayna Taylor. Again.
After seven years together, off and on, the two have apparently called it quits once more — making them just one of many celeb couples not to survive 2020 intact.

In a new statement to DailyMail.com, a rep for the American Idol host confirmed the split, saying:
“Ryan and Shayna decided to end their romantic relationship amicably some time ago. They remain good friends, each other’s biggest supporters and will always cherish their time together as a couple.”
But is it for good?
Well, that remains to be seen. It’s not like the couple haven’t gone through this cycle before, breaking up in February 2019 only to get back together later that same Summer.
Considering they were able to reconnect and make it work despite the fallout of an accusation of sexual misconduct against Ryan — one of the rare instances in which someone was actually exonerated in an internal investigation by their network — one would have thought they could withstand anything. And they may still reconcile… but not right now.
The statement comes on the heels of Seacrest being photographed in Cabo San Lucas last week, relaxing poolside with a blonde woman who has not yet been identified — but who most definitely was not Shayna.
We have no idea how long “some time ago” is, but hopefully we’re talking more than seven days. You know, just for fidelity’s sake. We do think they were still together as recently as March 24 when Ryan wrote a sweet birthday Instagram post to the 28-year-old:
“Happy birthday to a chef, a legend, and an angel @shaynateresetaylor! Here’s a throwback from before our new normal.”
Awww. Now that “new normal” line means something a little different…
Speaking of the vacay pics, we honestly just thought it was nice to see Seacrest getting some sea rest.
As you may recall, during the finale of American Idol finale last month, viewers got worried about the hard-working host’s health after his speech was slurred, and his eye seemed to contort. He even fueled speculation about possible health problems by taking time off from Live! With Kelly And Ryan the next day.
However, a statement from his rep explained:
“Like many people right now, Ryan is adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home. Between Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials, he has been juggling three to four on-air jobs over the last few weeks and he’s in need of rest. So today he took a well-deserved day off.”
What that statement did not mention was the stress of a breakup at the same time as all that work, which apparently was the case.
Obviously it seems like Ryan is OK now — and also taking even more well-deserved days off. With a new mystery woman to boot.

J.K. Rowling Deletes Praise For Stephen King After He Stands Up For Transgender Women
J.K. Rowling‘s problematic attitude around transgender women continues, and other authors are standing up against her!
It all started on Sunday when Stephen King retweeted a message sent out by the Harry Potter author, which read:
“Andrea Dworkin wrote: ‘Men often react to women’s words—speaking and writing—as if they were acts of violence; sometimes men react to women’s words with violence.’ It isn’t hateful for women speak about their own experiences, nor do they deserve shaming for doing so.”

Later on Sunday, Rowling tweeted out words of praise for the novelist:
“I’ve always revered @StephenKing, but today my love reached – maybe not Annie Wilkes levels – but new heights. It’s so much easier for men to ignore women’s concerns, or to belittle them, but I won’t ever forget the men who stood up when they didn’t need to. Thank you, Stephen.”
A fan asked King bluntly where he stood on the matter:
“You should address the TERF tweet. By telling us constant readers if you believe trans women are women.”
King simply replied:
“Yes. Trans women are women.”
Shortly after the interaction between the IT novelist and the commenter, Rowling deleted her words of praise for the 72-year-old.
This comes weeks after the mother of three faced harsh backlash over her tweets about transgender women, with many accusing her of being a trans-exclusionary radical feminist (TERF). She tweeted on June 6:
“If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”
Days later, she released a lengthy blog post in an attempt to clarify her earlier words, though the damage had been done. In part, J.K. wrote:
“The more of their accounts of gender dysphoria I’ve read, with their insightful descriptions of anxiety, dissociation, eating disorders, self-harm and self-hatred, the more I’ve wondered whether, if I’d been born 30 years later, I too might have tried to transition. The allure of escaping womanhood would have been huge. I struggled with severe OCD as a teenager. If I’d found community and sympathy online that I couldn’t find in my immediate environment, I believe I could have been persuaded to turn myself into the son my father had openly said he’d have preferred.”

Yet another tell-all book about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry — and even more Royal tea-spilling.
This time the tome is Royals At War: The Untold Story of Harry and Meghan’s Shocking Split with the House of Windsor by journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett, who take you back to the biggest little social scandal in October of 2018 — when two things which should both have been perfectly happy occasions collided to produce something completely awkward and kinda rude.
When the news of Meghan and Harry having a baby first dropped, the world collectively congratulated the happy couple. While their child, whom we would come to know as little Archie Harrison, would never sit on the throne, any Royal baby is big news. Big, wonderful, spotlight-stealing news.
You remember now, right?
Yep, it came out shortly after the announcement that the first time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spilled the beans was at another austere occasion — the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

At the time we thought that was pretty rude — and so did our readers if you look at the poll numbers (below)! We mean, who steals the bride’s big day by announcing such huge, overshadowing news??
Not only do the authors confirm Meghan dropped the baby bombshell to the family gathered for Eugenie’s wedding, per a DailyMail.com excerpt they also claim to have inside accounts of the REAL response by certain members, including Eugenie AND the mother of the bride — the OG Fergie — Sarah Ferguson!
They write:
“Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child… This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a royal — stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.”
Obviously they aren’t going to come out and say so since it makes them look petty and self-centered… but OBVIOUSLY they were pissed! And totally justified in their anger, too! You do NOT steal the bride’s spotlight!
And here’s a bigger shocker: according to the book, which hits shelves both physical and digital on Tuesday, June 30, Harry didn’t know the announcement was coming — and ended up leaving the wedding feeling “embarrassed” by the huge faux pas.
So why would Meghan do such a thing?
Well, one theory says it was revenge after Queen Elizabeth denied Meghan the chance to wear the emerald tiara she wanted to for her wedding (over supposed issues with its place of origin) then let Eugenie wear it just five months later! You can read all about THAT messy exchange HERE!

There's a Theory That Dead to Me Is a Grace and Frankie Prequel and . . . We're Into It
After binge-watching the morbidly dark, buddy comedy Dead To Me in its entirety, I craved another strong female relationship, but without the homicidal subplot. Naturally, that desire led me to another Netflix original, Grace and Frankie. A striking similarity between the lead characters of both series made me wonder if Netflix is secretly making their own Marvel-esque universe. Certainly, Netflix has built a culture within its original content by recycling familiar actors in new releases, and even cross-promoting on shows (cue To All The Boys I've Loved Before star Lana Condor crashing an episode of Nailed It!). While it may seem far-fetched to link the happy-go-lucky lives of Grace and Frankie to Dead To Me's Jen and Judy, here are five reasons why it isn't totally impossible.
1. Identical Personalities
Jen (Christina Applegate) is a strong-willed, uneven tempered blonde with killer looks. Grace (Jane Fonda) is exactly the same, plus a few decades. Both women have a sharp tongue used most often to criticize the hippie antics of their best friends. Jen and Grace both begrudgingly befriended a brunette flower child with a minor marijuana habit. Frankie (Lily Tomlin) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) follow their hearts, guided by spiritual connections to the universe and soul-soothing crystals. While Judy and Frankie's organic, quirky auras provide comic relief in each show, they also balance Grace and Jen's coarse personalities.
2. An Affinity for the Beach
Both shows make a point of flaunting the wealth of their locations and proximity to beach life. Jen and Judy call Laguna beach home, but who's to say they didn't relocate to sunny San Diego years later, and change their names to Grace and Frankie? Jen built her career on selling multi-million dollar beach homes, and Grace was very adamant about keeping the beach house after her divorce. One Reddit thread even noted that the shows may use the same sets. Coincidence? I think not.
3. Judy and Frankie's Infertility
A major plot line in Dead To Me's first season is Judy's struggle to conceive and carry a child to term. After experiencing five miscarriages, she had nearly given up her dream of becoming a mother. After an assumed pregnancy scare, Judy learns that she is no longer able to become pregnant. Frankie has two adopted sons, and also struggled to conceive with her ex-husband, Sol (Sam Waterston).
4. Grace and Jen's Unhealthy Relationships
Both Grace and Jen have a tendency to stay in unhappy relationships for far too long. Jen and her husband were at each other's throats constantly before he died, and it was later revealed that he had been having an affair for over a year. Grace's husband also had an affair for twenty years, citing her lack of love for him as a reason for straying. Grace admitted to never truly being happy with him, and Jen often berates herself for not leaving her husband when things got rough. If Grace is future Jen, it seems that some old habits don't die.
5. Connected by the Men in Their Lives
The death of Jen's husband brought her to Judy, and the death of Judy's ex-fiancee forever bonded her to Jen. Even when the two have a falling out, they are always brought back together by the secrets they share about their deceased partners. Grace and Frankie hated each other, only connected by their husbands' law partnership. When that law partnership blossomed into something more, the two women were forced together, inevitably falling into an enviable friendship. In both shows, the friends regularly swear each other off, only for their shared circumstances to push them back into each others' good graces by the next episode.

Public Enemy Give "Fight the Power" a Star-Studded Remix For the 2020 BET Awards
If anyone is looking to kick off an award show with a message, the 2020 BET Awards has some notes. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the show started things off with a re-creation of Public Enemy's iconic "Fight the Power" music video with a modern twist. Chuck D and Flavor Flav were joined by a truly supreme lineup of artists to give the classic lyrics a new flavor, including Nas, Rapsody, YG, and The Roots' Black Thought.
The video's re-creation included footage from the various protests against police brutality in response to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and other Black victims, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are doing what they feel like they can do right now to make a difference!
The formerly royal couple has reportedly been working behind the scenes to support the Stop Hate for Profit Campaign, an international non-profit that calls on business leaders across the world to temporarily pull their advertisements from the social media giant Facebook. The hope there is that the social media company will finally buckle down on showing fewer political ads with hate speech, lies, misinformation, fake news, and the like.

According to a source who spoke to People about the former Duke and Duchess’ involvement with the non-profit organization and its aims, it sounds like things are moving along quite well for all involved, activists and celebs alike. The insider said (below):
“As we’ve been developing Archewell, one of the areas The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been keen to address is online hate speech, and we’ve been working with civil rights and racial justice groups on it. Over the past few weeks, in particular, this issue has become even more vital and they have been working to encourage global CEOs to stand in solidarity with a coalition of civil and racial justice groups like the NAACP, Color of Change, and the Anti-Defamation League, which are calling for structural changes to our online world.”
Wow! Of course, the NAACP’s President, Derrick Johnson, recently praised the couple for their leadership on the Stop Hate for Profit Campaign, so it’s clear that Harry and Meghan have met some like-minded folks in their quest to make a difference.
The campaign itself has worked wonders, too; major companies like Coca-Cola, Eileen Fisher, Honda, Levi’s, Patagonia, and Verizon have all joined the boycott so far, with others likely still to come as momentum grows. Facebook has felt some of the pressure already, too, making changes to how the site publishes and fact checks information. It’s a start…

Michelle Obama helped kick off the annual Roots Picnic on Saturday with a passionate speech about voting. As QuestLove and Black Thought went over the star-studded lineup for the event, their cohost surprised them by jumping on a video chat to say a few words. "These past few months have been pretty heavy for just about everyone and the truth is, we still got our work cut out for us in the weeks and months ahead," she said in the clip. "I want to remind everybody that we got an election coming up and it couldn't be more important that everybody makes their voice be heard this time around." She then encouraged everyone watching to head over to her non-profit organization When We All Vote to get started, because "we all deserve to have our voices heard."
The former first lady echoed similar sentiments during a recent interview for Harper's Bazaar. While chatting with writer and producer Shonda Rhimes, Michelle discussed why voting is important for everyone, but especially for young voters. "Not many people want someone else making their decisions for them, especially when that person might not see the world the same way as they do," she said. "That's what happens when you don't vote: You are giving away your power to someone else-someone who doesn't see the world the same as you.
