Usher Puts Verzuz Comparisons to Rest With "Tiny Desk" Concert

At last, Usher's nostalgic Tiny Desk concert is finally here! Fans have been (impatiently) waiting for the Grammy-winning icon to grace NPR's beloved D.C. music desk. So in honor of Black Music Month, it's only right that the outlet tapped Usher to run through his stacked R&B catalog for a 25-minute long live session.

"I'm just hoping to really, really have fun today in this office party," Usher said at the start of his self-described "gumbo" set - and fun is exactly what we had. During his Tiny Desk concert, released on June 30, Usher introduced Eric Bellinger and Vedo as he and his band eased into a medley of the singer's hugest classics. "You Make Me Wanna...," "Superstar," "U Don't Have to Call," "Nice & Slow," and "Confessions Part II" are just a few hits that Usher blessed listeners with. But he couldn't leave without singing "My Way," which turns 25 this year.

Usher's Tiny Desk concert comes just ahead of the singer's second Las Vegas residency, which kicks off on July 15 and wraps in October. The legendary "Confessions" star took over Sin City last year for a sold-out 20-show run, but now he's eager to get back on the big stage. "I'm so excited to be returning to Vegas with a BRAND NEW residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM this July through October!," he tweeted on Feb. 17.

If his Tiny Desk is a preview of what to expect from Usher's residency, then fans better hurry up and grab tickets while they still can. For now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the soulful sounds of Usher's heavenly vocals above.
