There’s a headline you’re not going to read every day…
Jim Carrey — who likes to sketch political and social things and post the results on his Twitter account — and his most recent one centers on the demise of one-time Adolf Hitler ally and former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

Referencing what he sees as the potential spread of fascism in the United States under a Donald Trump presidency, Carrey drew and published this cartoon on his Twitter account with the caption alluding to the connection (below):

Whoa!!
It’s actually a pretty intense cartoon, because it references an iconic and graphic picture in which Mussolini and his mistress were infamously hanged together after World War II, finally being punished by mob justice for their actions and his fascist, domineering, and violent control over Italy at the time.
Drawing something like that, with Carrey’s audience, is pretty much guaranteed to bring out a pretty intense reaction from social media, right?!

Well… yes. But it was NOT the reaction you were probably expecting — not even close!
None other than Mussolini’s own GRANDDAUGHTER, Alessandra Mussolini, jumped into the fray very quickly after Carrey posted the tweet, calling the Ace Ventura actor a “bastard,” (below) before later insulting his drawings while appearing to show her support for Donald Trump:

Um… WOW!!! What an incredibly random social media feud!!
Carrey himself never responded to Mussolini over her comments, but she proceeded to tweet about him over the span of the entire weekend — in two languages — proving that she’s not mad, she’s actually laughing, and she hasn’t been owned online. LOLz!!
Also, how weirdly appropriate is it that the granddaughter of one of the most infamous and brutal fascists to ever walk the earth is currently a fan of Donald Trump? Just seems oddly and unfortunately perfect, no?

Anyways, thankfully, thousands of people were quick to come to Carrey’s defense, BLASTING the woman and her deceased, disgraced Fascist grandfather with a LOT of hot takes and fiery tweets (below):
