Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are doing what they feel like they can do right now to make a difference!
The formerly royal couple has reportedly been working behind the scenes to support the Stop Hate for Profit Campaign, an international non-profit that calls on business leaders across the world to temporarily pull their advertisements from the social media giant Facebook. The hope there is that the social media company will finally buckle down on showing fewer political ads with hate speech, lies, misinformation, fake news, and the like.

According to a source who spoke to People about the former Duke and Duchess’ involvement with the non-profit organization and its aims, it sounds like things are moving along quite well for all involved, activists and celebs alike. The insider said (below):
“As we’ve been developing Archewell, one of the areas The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been keen to address is online hate speech, and we’ve been working with civil rights and racial justice groups on it. Over the past few weeks, in particular, this issue has become even more vital and they have been working to encourage global CEOs to stand in solidarity with a coalition of civil and racial justice groups like the NAACP, Color of Change, and the Anti-Defamation League, which are calling for structural changes to our online world.”
Wow! Of course, the NAACP’s President, Derrick Johnson, recently praised the couple for their leadership on the Stop Hate for Profit Campaign, so it’s clear that Harry and Meghan have met some like-minded folks in their quest to make a difference.
The campaign itself has worked wonders, too; major companies like Coca-Cola, Eileen Fisher, Honda, Levi’s, Patagonia, and Verizon have all joined the boycott so far, with others likely still to come as momentum grows. Facebook has felt some of the pressure already, too, making changes to how the site publishes and fact checks information. It’s a start…
