We said goodbye to so many icons and heroes last year, and it certainly wasn't easy. And again this year, we've bid farewell to other celebrities who have touched our lives. On New Year's Day, singer and actor George Gerdes died after suffering a brain aneurysm, and since then, we've lost Virgil Abloh, television legend Michael K. Williams, Harry Potter star Helen McCrory, The Parent 'Hood star Suzzanne Douglas, actor and director Robert Downey Sr., rapper Biz Markie, and more. Run, Don't Walk! Adele Just Announced a Las Vegas Residency in 2022
Adele is headed to Vegas, baby! On Nov. 30, the Grammy-winning singer announced via Twitter that she secured a 12-week Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, running from Jan. 21 through April 16, 2022. The residency, titled Weekends With Adele, will feature Friday and Saturday shows at the Colosseum, which holds over 4,000 people. Throughout the years, Cher, Mariah Carey, Madonna, and other pop stars have performed sold-out residency shows at the same venue. With Adele following in their footsteps, she's cementing her history as one of the greats, but we already knew that!

Legends Only! Remy Ma Is Joining ABC's Queens in a Recurring Role
Get excited, Queens fans! Remy Ma is joining ABC's musical drama in a recurring role. The details are still scarce at this point, but the show's creator, Zahir McGhee, announced the exciting news on Nov. 18 via Twitter. Days later, Remy confirmed her upcoming role on Queens - which chronicles the reunion of a legendary women hip-hop group, now in their 40s, as they try to reclaim their throne - while guest-hosting The Wendy Williams Show. "Speaking of female rappers, we have great news," Remy told the audience. "I am officially on the new show Queens on ABC."
The news comes just weeks after Deadline reported that Eve was taking a hiatus from Queens due to her maternity leave. Lucky for us, the Grammy-winning rapper filmed several scenes before her departure, which means that she'll appear in most of season one. Her character, Brianna, aka Professor Sex, is being given an open-ended exit, ensuring a seamless return if Queens gets renewed for a second season.

How Can Anyone Deny That Ashanti Is the Lady of Soul After This Greatest Hits Performance?
If you need your fill of Y2K nostalgia, Ashanti's 2021 Soul Train Awards performance is dripping with it. The Lady of Soul was honored at this year's award ceremony for being an iconic force in R&B and soul for nearly two decades now. Normani presented the legendary singer with her award following a short tribute video in her honor, and then the moment we were all waiting for happened: she took over the Soul Train stage for a dynamic performance.
Ashanti took us way back with her medley of greatest hits like "Baby," "Foolish," and "The Way That I Love You." And as if that weren't enough, she brought some familiar faces onstage to make the moment even more special. Fat Joe and Ja Rule made guest appearances as they performed their songs "What's Luv?" and "Always on Time," and Ashanti seemed as hyped as us to see them.
Ashanti has been a true trailblazer throughout her career. In 2002, she received the Aretha Franklin entertainer of the year award at the Lady of Soul Awards, so it comes as no surprise that she earned yet another honor of a lifetime. "It's like a full circle moment," she told Vibe in a recent interview. "I think God's timing is amazing. The fact that it's the 50th anniversary for Soul Train and it's close to 20 years for me is like a surreal moment."
Between breaking barriers in musicrerecording her debut album and becoming a 2022 Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree, Ashanti certainly deserves to get her flowers while she can still smell them. Watch her Soul Train Awards performance above as she proves why she'll always be considered a Lady of Soul.

Megan Thee Stallion is in the building! The Houston rapper made a surprise appearance at BTS's four-night Permission to Dance on Stage run in Los Angeles on Sunday to perform the remix to "Butter." Needless to say, the ARMY lost their minds. Following their performance, Megan told the crowd, "Thank y'all for having me. I'm feeling like a hot girl every season!" RM reciprocated the love by saying, "Everybody make some noise for beautiful Megan Thee Stallion."
BTS were supposed to be joined by Megan to perform "Butter" together for the first time ever at the American Music Awards on Nov. 21, but the rapper had to pull out the day prior due to an "unexpected personal matter." On Sunday, RM said, "It's perfect 'cause we felt very sad for the AMAs and now you're here." Megan responded, "We did it! I told y'all!" The following day, the rapper shared photos of her experience with BTS. "Last night was so amazingggggg," she wrote. "Thank you to my friends @bts.bighitofficial for having meee." Ari Lennox Says She's Been Arrested in Amsterdam For "Reacting to a Woman Racially Profiling Me"
R&B singer Ari Lennox has reportedly been arrested in Amsterdam following a racial profiling incident. The Shea Butter Baby singer tweeted early Monday morning that she was allegedly profiled by Amsterdam's airport security, writing, "F*ck Amsterdam security. They hate black people."
Ari announced her arrival in Amsterdam just an hour before her series of tweets began. A Twitter user took screenshots of her other tweets before they were deleted, in which she said, "Wow Amsterdam I'm horrified. I was so happy to travel and this evil woman . . . I've never experienced racism so blatant." She also tweeted, "I just want to go home. I'll never leave my house again."
Ari's overseas incident comes just after her performances at the 2021 Soul Train Awards that aired on BET on Sunday night. She performed her latest single, "Pressure," along with her collaboration with Summer Walker, "Unloyal." Additional details surrounding the incident have yet to be confirmed. The last statement Ari tweeted was, "I'm being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me." We will continue to follow this story as it develops.

Channing Tatum Will Return For a New Magic Mike Movie on HBO Max!
Channing Tatum is ready to break out some new moves! On Nov. 29, Deadline announced that the Magic Mike franchise is returning with a new film on HBO Max and it will see Tatum reprise his role as the Mike Lane. The actor celebrated the news on social media, sharing a photo of the script for Magic Mike's Last Dance, writing, "Well world, looks like Mike Lane's tapping back in." Steven Soderbergh will direct the film, with Reid Carolin returning to write the script after the success of the initial 2012 movie.
The franchise and fandom has only multiplied since the first film, with the release of Magic Mike XXL in 2015 and stage show Magic Mike Live. In addition to the upcoming film, Finding Magic Mike, an HBO Max reality show, will premiere on Dec. 16. "There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same," Tatum told Deadline. A release date for Magic Mike's Last Dance has not been announced, but we are ready for the magic and the moves!

Ed Sheeran and Elton John Have Teased Their New Christmas Song - Love Actually Style
Feeling festive? No? Well, allow Elton John and Ed Sheeran to change that with their upcoming Christmas single. "Merry Christmas," as the song is simply titled, is out on Dec. 3. To get us excited, Sheeran posted a teaser for the track. It opens in Love Actually style with giant cue cards on John's doorstep. Sheeran explains that John approached him to collaborate on a Christmas song together, to which Sheeran replied, "Yeah, maybe in 2022." But turns out, he wrote the chorus that same day. So, "Merry Christmas" was born.
While we don't know much else about the collaboration, one thing we know for sure is that Sheeran will be dressed for the role. A week ago, he posted a photo on his Instagram of him and John wearing matching tracksuits for the special occasion. All proceeds raised from the single will support the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Sheeran first announced the Christmas duet back in October, when he appeared on a Dutch talk show. "It's f*cking great," he told the hosts, according to Billboard. Sheeran added that it was all John's idea back in 2020: "He rung me on Christmas Day and he said, '"Step Into Christmas" is No. 6 on the charts, and I'm 74, and I'm still having f*cking chart hits, this is great! I want to do another Christmas song, will you do it with me?'" Sheeran was initially hesitant about the idea, admitting that he "never really wanted to do a Christmas song." But after the death of a close friend, he decided to accept John's offer. "It really just hit home how stuff can just change overnight," Sheeran said. "I was like, 'Why the f*ck am I not doing a Christmas song with Elton John? I might not be here tomorrow, this will be a f*cking great way to celebrate Christmas.'"
When speaking to Jimmy Fallon about the festive collab earlier this month, Sheeran explained that if he was going to do a Christmas song, he wanted to do it properly: "In terms of doing a Christmas song, you need to chuck the kitchen sink at it. . . . So I said to Elton, I was like, 'I don't really want to do a Christmas song unless we're going in. Unless it's like sleigh bells, ding-dong . . . It needs to be a proper Christmas song.'"
The end result was "Merry Christmas," for which Sheeran wrote the chorus. "So get this," Sheeran told Fallon. "We write it, and I title it 'Merry Christmas,' and I'm like, 'We're going to have to change that title 'cause there's probably loads of songs called "Merry Christmas."' I went on Spotify, and I typed in 'Merry Christmas,' nothing. . . . There's not a song called "Merry Christmas." And then I went on YouTube and checked it out. Baffles me."
With this teaser, we officially mark it the beginning of the festive season. Love Actually, anyone?

Looks Like Tom Holland's Future as Spider-Man Has Been Sealed With Another Marvel Trilogy
Spider-Man fans will be thrilled to know that we haven't seen the last of Tom Holland in the Marvel universe! Spider-Man: No Way Home's star actor has already been confirmed to return to the movie franchise, and it seems like the future is looking quite bright for him. According to film producer Amy Pascal, not only will Sony continue to collaborate with Marvel Studios on the Spider-Man movies, they'll all reportedly star Holland as well!
"This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel - [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie," she revealed in an interview with Fandango. "We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We're thinking of this as three films, and now we're going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies."
Considering Spider-Man: No Way Home was supposed to wrap up the film trilogy with Marvel Studios, it's certainly a big deal that we'll be getting yet another set of movies from this great collaboration with Holland at the helm. But before Holland can embark on his next chapter as Spider-Man in the Marvel franchise, we must first see him deal with the multiverse plot in the upcoming movie that picks up after his cover is blown in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home are officially on sale so I suggest grabbing them while you can ahead of the film's premiere!
